Hi Rebecca, thanks for visiting. Of course, one thing sheeple who use the "Mormon insult" forget is that it is actually a complement, considering the Mormon's are some of the best preppers on planet earth. ;)

It's funny that you mention this. I had the most eye opening experience last night. I'm also of the school of put away food for a rainy day. I usually don't buy camping food (I tend to make my own) but I do have a good stockpile of basic necessities, food, cooking fuel, water, health items, etc and some not so necessary things. It's sort of a family project. I usually get picked on, being that I'm Utahn. "oh what a molly Mormon thing to do, having a food storage." However, VA is going to be getting a couple feet of snow this weekend and I went to the grocery store last night to do my regular shopping which typically means just stocking up on the fresh foods and replenishing what's been taken out of the storage. I had maybe a half cart of stuff. Then I looked around at the sheeple and the aisles. Grocery aisles were DECIMATED. Particularly canned foods of all things! people had one, two and sometimes three carts full of food. Mostly non-perishable. Although many fresh things were also gone, these people were stocking up like they thought the end of the world was nigh! These are the same sheeple I see each week filling their carts with bagel bites and not much else. It cemented in my head the exact idea you are referring to. when it comes down to the wire, I know we have the basic necessities to survive. I do still save money, but it's really hard to eat money. if something were to happen to the rest of these folks, disaster, economic hardship, etc, I don't thing they'd last more than a week. Self sufficiency totally rocks my socks.
