The previous owner overlooked the fact that there is a reason for the little door in the grill next to the headlamps. In his oversight (or whoever changed his bulbs), the bracket that provides most of the stabilization to the headlamp assemblies was broken.
It would seem an epoxy repair was attempted and failed at one point before, but they clearly did not use nearly as much epoxy as I did (the entire container) and probably did not bake it in the hot desert sun for 3 days before reinstalling them…
Total cost = $5 for a tube of epoxy from Home Depot, a few paper towels, and a little bit of rubbing alcohol to get the assemblies clean and dry. Much better than $300 a piece to buy new assemblies used.
